However, according to the EPA, transportation makes up roughly a third of all global greenhouse gas emissions. Many decide that opting for a new electric vehicle will cut their carbon footprint, however public transportation often goes unnoticed as an ecofriendly alternative for getting around. In addition, rural areas have been overlooked for implementing public transportation options. This project is an interactive lecture, which puts into perspective the massive number of emissions that come from personal vehicles. This project aims to urge people to utilize current public transit options and emphasize the positive environmental impact that implementing transit options has. This communications project will allow for public audience members to understand the portion of carbon emissions coming from the use and manufacturing of vehicles, in comparison to that of public transit options. It will also be a call to action for implementing technologies in both urban and rural areas with high potential and utilizing current public transportation options to cut down the carbon footprint from the transportation industry. Public transit options, in both urban and rural areas have the potential to drastically reduce carbon emissions, which can lead society to a clean and safe transit future.
